September 23, 2016 chose "Bless God, America" for his title Armed Services Songs on the bagpipes of the U.S.A. Combined American Legion Post 264 & VFW Post 1471 Color Guard present the colors for the Veterans Day Service in Ripley Square. American Legion Post 264 represented by Glen Lindbloom present Tom Stanley with his 60 year membership certificate Members of Continental Congress Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, lay a wreath in honor of Veterans of the American Revolution. The Daughters of the Union Veterans of the Civil War lay a wreath commemorating the veterans of the Civil War. Dana DeWeese provided beautiful musical selections appropriate for the service on his bagpipes. John Krumpelman presided over the wreath and flower ceremonies by the American Legion Post and VFW Post. Laying of the Memorial Wreath by the combined posts. leads the annual Independence Day Celebration. We are joined by newest member Lance Corporal Chas Gamblin, just returned from Afghanistan. USMC HERO HONORED
United States Marine Corps Lance Corporal Chas Gamblin landed in Kansas City International Airport 4:30 pm July 2, 2011; completing his tour of duty as a sniper in Afghanistan. Lance Corporal Gamblin was escorted by one hundred plus motorcycles and vehicles composed of members of the Patriot Guard, Legion Riders, and patriotic citizens on a route from Kansas City, through Brookfield, and down Main Street USA, Marceline. The Missouri State Highway Patrol, Brookfield Police Department, and Marceline Police Department provided rolling traffic control for the escort. At Marceline city center, surrounded by well wishers, the American Legion Marceline King-Stephenson Post 264 Commander Mitch Wrenn welcomed Lance Corporal home and thanked him for his heroic duty -- then presented Lance Corporal Gamblin a Post 264 American Legion membership.
