Members of Continental Congress Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, lay a wreath in honor of Veterans of the American Revolution.







The Daughters of the Union Veterans of the Civil War lay a wreath commemorating the veterans of the Civil War.



    



Dana DeWeese provided beautiful musical selections appropriate for the service on his bagpipes.         John Krumpelman presided over the wreath and flower ceremonies by the American Legion Post and VFW Post.

Memorial Day 2013 Preparations

Mt. Olivet Cemetery on Saturday, May 11 in advance of Memorial Day Tribute to veterans. Veterans buried in the cemetery date back to the Civil War.

2012 MHS HOMECOMING Parade








2012 ToonFest Parade












Marceline King/Stevenson American Legion Post 264 along with Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1471 conducted final military honors for Robert M. "Bob" Walton at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO. Bob served in Vietnam in the Marine Corps and was a member of both veterans groups.


2012 Memorial Day Ceremony

















Marceline King/Stevenson American Legion Post 264 along with Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1471 combined to host the 2012 Memorial Day Service in Ripley Square, Marceline. The color guard was piped in by Dana DeWeese. Flags of five different armed services and a rifle, boots and helmet decorated the front of the gazebo. Father Jerry Kaiman, Priest at St. Bonaventure Church, gave the meditation. Members of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Daughters of the Civil War laid wreaths. The combined posts laid a wreath with red, white and blue roses to commemorate purity, courage and eternity. The service ended with a 21 gun salute and "Taps".

Cemetery Flags and Crosses





Marceline's King/Stevenson American Legion Post 264 placed flags and replaced old crosses at Mt. Olivet Cemetery May 19th. There are some 450 veterans buried in Mt. Olivet from the Civil War through the Viet Nam conflict. The post does this each year ahead of Memorial Day.
2012 M.H.S. Boys State





Marceline King/Stevenson American Legion Post 264 sponsors two local members of the Junior Class to participate in the annual BOYS STATE. This year the honorees are Austin Moudy and Kyle Bell.

Joyce E. "Doc" DeWeese, DVM Honors


Marceline King/Stevenson American Legion Post 264 along with Marceline V.F.W. Post 1471 and members from Bucklin Post 57 performed final military rites for fellow veteran Joyce DeWeese. Doc was a World War II Army veteran. In 1955 he settled in Marceline and was a member of both American Legion Post 264 and V.F.W. Post 1471. He was active over much of North Missouri and Bucklin Post 57 sent a contingent to join in honoring him.

THANKSGIVING 2011
King/Stevenson American Legion Post 264 in Marceline presented fruit to the veterans at Pioneer Nursing Center in Marceline on Thanksgiving Day. Pictured is resident and fellow veteran George Pollard and Commander Mitch Wrenn.


VETERANS DAY 2011
Members of American Legion Post 264 and VFW Post 1471 present the colors at the annual Marceline Veterans Day Ceremonies.








Lynn Dorrell, past commander of Missouri Division of the American legion, is featured speaker at the 2011 Ceremonies. Lynn is a former Marceline native.




Dana DeWeese, another Marceline boy, appears in full regalia and played "Amazing Grace" in honor of our Vets. Dana is active in bagpipe bands in the Columbia and St. Louis area and is the son of Joyce DeWeese, DVM of Marceline.




Post Honors Fire and Police Departments

On oct. 28 King/Stevenson Marceline American Legion Post 264 conducted its monthly meeting and presented certificates of commondation to Marceline fire chief Cecil Bezoni (above) for all fireman and sergeant Bob Donoldson (below) representing the Marceline police force for all police officers for their outstanding service to our community. Commander mitch wrenn presented the awards.






Ola Floray Honors


Marceline King/Stevenson American Legion Post 264 along with Marceline V.F.W. Post 1471 preformed final military rites for a fellow veteran Ola Floray. Ola, a lifelong Marceline resident, was a Veteran of the United States Army and a long-time member of Post 264.


Clarence Schmitt Honors


Marceline King/Stevenson American Legion Post 264 along with Marceline V.F.W. Post 1471 preformed final military rites for a fellow fallen veteran Clarence L. Schmitt. Honor Guard went to present arms, rifles were fired and the final call of taps was played. Clarence was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War and a member of V.F.W. Post 1471.

2011 POW/MIA Remembrance










            Charles Krumpelman leads the service during the 2011 Remembrance
            of the POW's and MIA's in the armed services of the United States.
            This is a yearly activity of the American Legion Post 264 and VFW
            Post 1471.

FOURTH OF JULY PARADE

A joint color guard from American Legion Post 264 and VFW Post 1471
leads the annual Independence Day Celebration. We are joined by newest member Lance Corporal Chas Gamblin, just returned from Afghanistan.



USMC HERO HONORED


United States Marine Corps Lance Corporal Chas Gamblin landed in Kansas City International Airport 4:30 pm July 2, 2011; completing his tour of duty as a sniper in Afghanistan. Lance Corporal Gamblin was escorted by one hundred plus motorcycles and vehicles composed of members of the Patriot Guard, Legion Riders, and patriotic citizens on a route from Kansas City, through Brookfield, and down Main Street USA, Marceline. The Missouri State Highway Patrol, Brookfield Police Department, and Marceline Police Department provided rolling traffic control for the escort. At Marceline city center, surrounded by well wishers, the American Legion Marceline King-Stephenson Post 264 Commander Mitch Wrenn welcomed Lance Corporal home and thanked him for his heroic duty -- then presented Lance Corporal Gamblin a Post 264 American Legion membership.
